why do people call an all in bet with ace anything. to me its the most annoying thing in the world. for example. i was playin the other night at a rc event. i really wasnt catching card so when i was short stack to like 190 i went all in with k j the best hand i d seen all night. everyone folds except one guy who just has to call because he has and ace his kicker a six off suit what the hell. off course i lose the hand but still that just annoying the hell outta me.

I dont profess to be a pro or any kinda know-it-all by any means.I was watching either the WPT or the WSOP on TV when they told us what the odds were of someone else in an eight handed game having an ace in their hand if you held one as well.I dont remember what it was but I was shocked when they told me.There is a good chance you have the best hand going in with a lone ace againsed a single, frustrated short stack.I would prolly have made the same call as long as I could afford it and there was no one else left behind me.It is definetly a donkey call in bad position though. This is just one mans opinion.

The A6 is favored.

My pet peeve is after 2 years, people still dont know how to play hold 'em. I'm not talking folks wandering over from the bar but people who play 2-3 times a week. They dont understand position, etiquette, strategy or above all, losing with grace and dignity. I cant imagine some of these guys' reaction if they actually got their chips from a cashier's window !!!

My biggest issue is folks who see a flop then sort through the muck to show their friend they would have caught the 9 4 2. I would like to see RC institute a rule for this behavior. Make them forfeit their highest denomination chip.

No, better yet, force them to buy something from the venue. That would end it. The other night I watched a guy unwrap a sandwich and pull an apple juice out of his coat. haha....I feel for ya,  venue owners.

Trust me there are alot of other calls that could've been worse. Did you take into account your opponents chip stack, maybe he could've afford to make the call, he also had the incentive of knocking a player out. Things you need to take into account before you come on here and rant.

yea not enough info here...what were the blinds? what impact did calling your all-in have on their stack? Was A6 the best thing that person had seen, maybe they were card dead and saw this as their best chance?

Me personally... I cant think of many reasons to call an all-in with A6....thats my least favorite kicker to have with an ace.

But in the end he was ahead. When you go all-in it doesnt mean an auto fold and auto steal of the blinds.

I have to thank this thread.

I went online for a quick hit last night.

Ended up going heads-up for ten bucks.

Quickly (six hands) I was chipped up 2200-800.

After the blinds went up and I had folded pre-flop

a few times, I was given in SB K-J spades.

Called the BB.  He re-raised all-in (734)

I called without hesitation.  He showed A-4 off.

The flop came: K K 4.  I laughed and then ate dinner.
